DISPLAY AND FASHION TRENDS

Visual Merchandising trends across all fashion departments and fashion trends which I feel are relevent, pushing the boundarys and are fashion forward. 

 

 

Viewing London's Fashion Week in Febuary 2013 showed the new trends which would be featuring in displays that season. This was inspirational for my displays. 

Mannequin trends for 2014/2015. 

 

 Mannequins are an important part of visual merchandising as they showcase the clothes. Having mannequins which portray the brands/trends and customers will help to create an amazing display as well as create intrest and sales.

2014 Trends - Mixed Messages

 

 

Combination textures are the latest look

for mannequins

 These New York displays have shown how mixed messages can be portrayed in different ways. 

 

 Using different medias, textures and lighting to attract the specific customers. 

Top Four Visual Merchandising Trends To Watch In 2014

Gender Identifications

In 2014 John Lewis introduced their size 16 mannequins. Most stores have mannequins which are size 8. The introduction of size 16 mannequins is a reflection of the average size of women in the UK and a massive improvement for the fashion world, taking examples from catwalks using plus sized models. 

Digital Intergration 

In other parts of the world shops have started using disabled mannequins to be my appeal to equal opperunities. Displays should appeal to everyone. 

Technology has hit the hightstreet on all levels, consumers are able to peruse shops websites in store, apps are available to access at all time and displays can be interactive now. 

 Saks in New York used numerous amounts of IPads to portray an image for a display. Using this media made the customers take notice. 

Social Media 

  Using social media in displays such as Twitter/ Instagram to encourage the brand to become trending. Topshop used social media interfaces in their display to promote the London Fashion week which was upcoming. 

Longing for Luxury 

Luzury has alway been a popular trend, shops and brands such as Harrods, Louis Vuitton , Harvey Nichols always produce displays to the highest standards. It oozes glam and sophistication.
